I just returned from a seminar on climate change research as part of the MSC’s faculty search for a climate change scientist. The presentation was very interesting and emphasized the need to consider how different organisms respond to the multiple stressors they may be exposed to due to changing climate and ocean chemistry. Tomorrow my fellow grad students and I will get to meet with the candidate at the MSC, sharing our insight on life at the MSC and learning why he would like to join our community. It’s exciting that grad students get to be a part of these faculty searches and learn the intricacies of applying for a faculty position as many of us will soon be out in the job market ourselves. Also attending these seminars is a great opportunity to broaden my knowledge of the innovative and essential research taking place in the field of climate change science.
